Authentic Handcrafted African Mud Cloth

Let's talk Mud Cloth!

  • An Authentic Handcrafted Africa Mud Cloth. Also called 'bogolan' is one of Africa's most unusual and unique textiles.

Hails from Mali the traditional Bogolan mudcloths which are hand dyed with mud, leaves and roots of plants have been transformed into monstly unique ethnic cushion covers, throws (blakents) and usually incorporate into clothing items.

The fabric is usually made by the men in the families and the woman are responsible for putting the strips together and the dying process ( Hence, why it is very expensive, ranging over at least a R1000).

Due to the handmade nature, the textiles may have inconsistencies and imperfections.

Our current cushion covers and made of this unique yet beautiful mudclot that we are talking about. Each cover is its own piece of art and have perfect imperfections which add to the romance of the African textiles.  The mud cloths are made from strips of the fabric which are put together to form one large "blanket" ( a meter) and that's where our cushion covers are cut and made from.

Our Authentic handcrafted African Mud Cloth would definely make for a great piece for your bed or couch. And also a beautiful gift to your loved ones. It's nubby tecture and impectful, yet simple hand-painted design adds style and character to any decor.
